Locate Policy

NO DRILLING WITHOUT PROPER LOCATES

PML Field Services’s policy on underground utilities is as simple as this:

*Public Property = Public Locates
*Private Property = Public + Private Locates
*The date on all locates must be valid
*The dig depth must be greater or equal to what is drilled

If the locates are incomplete, out of date, or not received from licensed personnel, PML Field Services cannot drill.  If you have any questions, need clarification as to whether your locates are sufficient, or would like us to handle the locate requests for you, please let us know.

We go to every site ready to drill.  If the locates are not 100%, we cannot begin excavations legally.

The reason we comply with the law is to protect our workers, protect your workers, prevent damage to our equipment, and to prevent damage to your clients’ property.  There are large fines associated with improper locates which would go to our operators, our company, as well as your company.  PML Field Services’s locate policy is the law and looks out for the best interest of all involved in the project.

*If we are called to a site with improper locates, no drilling will occur, and a 4 hour minimum charge will be applied.

The best way to avoid this is to follow the law, and ask PML Field Services management if you have any questions, concerns, or require us to review the utility locates in advance of the drilling date.

WHAT YOU CAN’T SEE, CAN HURT YOU!

It’s getting pretty crowded underground. There could be gas pipelines, electrical services, telephone and cable TV as well as water and sewer connections. In addition to these types of buried services to your home, there could be distribution networks for utilities that serve your neighbourhood and community. In some cases, such as pipelines and fiber optic cables, they may even be part of a national route.
